With his initial medical training undertaken at Flinders University (Adelaide) in 1996, Dr Ling became a Fellow at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2007. Following this, he completed a Clinical Fellowship in Upper Limb Surgery at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Queens University (Ontario, Canada). In 2012, Dr Ling became Fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association and was appointed to the Court of Examiners of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2015 for the Specialty Court of Orthopaedics Surgery.
With Orthopaedics SA, Dr Ling consults privately at Memorial Hospital, Flinders Private Hospital and Central Districts Hospital. He is also active in the public system, serving as a Visiting Medical Specialist with the Southern Adelaide Health Service and operating at Noarlunga Hospital, Flinders Medical Centre and the Repatriation General Hospital. Dr Ling works in upper limb and sports injury at both facilities, while at the Repatriation General Hospital, he also deals with joint replacement. To support regional patients, Dr Ling visits regional Australia, which includes consulting and operating at Portland District Hospital, Victoria.
